Monroe is a suburb located on the southeast side of Charlotte in Union County.  It is the county seat of and the second largest municipality in the county.  The town is named after James Monroe, the 5th president of the United States, and has been incorporated since 1843.  Located near Highway 74, the town is a fantastic location for commuting to larger towns such as Indian Trail, Matthews and Charlotte.       

Many people looking for a small town feel or a slower pace of life are considering the town of Monroe.  The housing prices are more affordable and people can typically get more for their money.  The town has seen steady growth in the past several decades and continues to grow and attract more residents and businesses.
