Waxhaw, NC
The suburb of Waxhaw is located about 20 miles south of Uptown Charlotte and 3 miles from the South Carolina line and is located in Union County, NC. The town was settled in the 1700s and named for the Wysacky, a Native American tribe that lived in the area. Waxhaw was primarily a mill and textile town but it has developed into one of the most affluent suburbs of the Charlotte Metro Area.
Waxhaw has seen expansive growth in the past 20 years. The population has grown 10X in that timeframe and shows no signs of slowing down. The population growth rate for the past several years has been over 5% per year outpacing the growth rates of NC and Charlotte.
